Gift Card Terms and Conditions

This document contains the full set of ‘Terms of Use’ governing the use of Eckersley’s Gift Cards.

We recommend that you read this document carefully before purchasing or redeeming a Gift Card.

 

Accepting the Gift Card and agreeing to these Terms of Use

By purchasing, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, you:

Accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.

 

General exclusions (all Gift Cards)

  • Trade Account Customers cannot purchase Gift Cards on their 30-day account. Gift Cards must be paid for up-front.
  • Gift Card purchases are not eligible to accrue points on a Creative Rewards Card. (The redeemer of the card will be eligible to accrue points for products purchased with the Gift Card)
  • Gift Cards cannot be ‘topped-up’. If you would like more Gift Card dollars you will need to purchase a new card.

 

Gift Card Transactions

Where you can use the Gift Card:

Your Gift Card can be used in all Eckersley’s retail stores & the Eckersley’s online store.

 

How to buy a Gift Card in-store:

Ask the operator for a gift card & let the operator know the monetary value you would like added to the card.

Pay for your Gift Card using cash, eftpos or ZipPay.

The card is activated through our point of sale system once the payment is received.

Once activated; Gift Cards cannot be reloaded so it is very important you are sure of the value before the sale is processed.

Creative Rewards points cannot be earned when purchasing a Gift Card.

 

How to buy Gift Cards Online:

To buy a Gift Card online click here.

Simply select a design, add the gift card amount, a message and the email address you would like to send the gift card to. You can send the Gift Card on a later date by clicking "Send Later" and choosing the required date.  The Gift card will be activated and sent to the recipient once payment is received or on the later date you have specified.

The Gift Card can be used online and in-store.

Creative Rewards points cannot be earned when purchasing a Gift Card.

 

How to make a purchase with your Gift Card:

In-store

Select goods in your participating store and take them to the point of sale operator. Let the operator know that you would like to pay with your Gift Card.

When the transaction is completed the balance will be reduced on your Gift Card. No change will be given in cash: any remaining balance on the card can be used in whole or part against future purchases.

If there is not enough balance on the Gift Card to pay for the full transaction you will need to pay for the remaining balance with another payment method.

When redeeming gift cards purchased online, customers will be required to complete a form and present photo ID.

 

Online

You can use your Gift Card to pay for purchases online at checkout. Simply add your Gift Card number and Pin into the specified boxes at checkout & choose the monetary value you would like to use to pay for purchase.

Any remaining balance on the card can be used in whole or part against future purchases.

If there is not enough balance on the Gift Card to pay for the full transaction you will need to pay for the remaining balance with another payment method.

 

Transaction authorisation

Transactions are authorised by you when:

  • Giving participating retailer details of the Gift Card and authorising the transaction in some other way approved by that retailer. When you authorise a transaction:
  • You are confirming that the transaction correctly represents the purchase price of the goods or services obtained; and
  • You are agreeing to pay the amount of that transaction by the reduction of the Remaining Card Value.

 

Purchases exceeding the Gift Card value:

Your Gift Card may only be used to make purchases up to the Remaining Card Value. If you wish to make a purchase for an amount that exceeds the Remaining Card Value, you must pay the excess using another payment method.

 

No cash advances:

You cannot obtain any cash advance with your Gift Card or redeem your Gift Card for cash.

 

Validity and expiry of Eckersley’s Gift Cards:

Gift Cards issued from the 31st March 2018 will be valid for use for 36 months from the date of issue and Gift Cards issued prior to the 31st March 2018 will be valid for use for 12 months from the date of issue (or as otherwise extended by the Eckersley’s Accounts Department). This is in line with recent amendments to the NSW Fair Trading Act 1987, which were passed by the NSW Parliament in October 2017 and implemented on 31st March 2018. The amendments introduced a mandatory three year minimum expiry date on Gift Cards sold to consumers in NSW. This three year minimum expiry date is now applicable to all Gift Cards issued nationally from any Eckersley’s Art & Craft store or online from 31st March 2018.

 

Any balance that remains on a Gift Card will not be available for use after the card’s expiry date.

There are a number of ways which you can check the expiry date of your Gift Card which include:

  • If you have received a plastic Gift Card you can look at the reverse side of the card
  • If you have received an Online Gift Card you can view the information on your Gift Card which would have been emailed to you
  • Check in-store at our service desk
  • Email customerservice@eckersleys.com.au 

 

Your Gift Card, your responsibility

You are responsible for the use and safety of your Gift Card. You are liable for all transactions on your Gift Card, except to the extent to which there has been fraud or negligence by Eckersley’s or by any Eckersley’s employees.

 

Lost or stolen Gift Cards

Treat your Gift Card like cash. Lost or stolen cards will not be replaced or refunded.

 

Re-issue of faulty or damaged Gift Cards

Re-issue of faulty or damaged Gift Cards is not available unless the Gift Cards are proven to be faulty or damaged as a result of the production process or otherwise due to the fault of the Eckersley’s Group.

 

Destruction of Gift Card with no value

Once the Remaining Card Value is completely used, destroy your card by cutting it in half diagonally. Your Gift Card cannot be reloaded.

 

Checking your Gift Card balance, expiry and transaction history

You can check your card balance, expiry date and transaction history at any time at an Eckersley’s store.

Can I collect Creative Rewards points when I purchase or use a Gift Card?

No, you will not be able to earn Creative Rewards points when purchasing a Gift Card. The redeemer of the card will be eligible to accrue points for products purchased with the Gift Card.

 

Can I exchange my Gift Card?

You cannot exchange your Gift Card for another tender, cash or discount.

Can I cancel my Gift Card?

No, you cannot cancel your Gift Card.
 

Exchanging items purchased with a Gift Card.

With proof of purchase (receipt) you may exchange goods purchased with a Gift Card.

 

Changes to Terms of Use

We reserve the right to change any of the terms contained in these Terms of Use at any time where the change is required:

  • To add or remove participating retailers and/or where the Gift Card may be redeemed;
  • To add or remove goods or services which may be purchased with the Gift Card;
  • For infrastructural, systems, administrative or operational reasons or to prevent the occurrence of fraud or other unlawful or unacceptable conduct;
  • To comply with any contract, law, regulation or statute or order or judgment of any court, tribunal or other body having competent jurisdiction; or
  • Where we, acting reasonably, consider that it will not be to your detriment.

Gift Cards

If you have reason to believe that an error has occurred in relation to your Gift Card, you should contact creativerewards@eckersleys.com.au

 

Goods or services

Any complaints about goods or services purchased with a Gift Card must be resolved directly with the retail store concerned. Online customers should email – customerservice@eckersleys.com.au.
